Belief determines muscle capability

My massage therapist taught me to stretch my shoulders back at my desk, alternating the stretch with effort. My desk is a corner unit. I can stretch my arms wide on the edges of the desk. I was doing isometrics, pushing against the desk. After a while I realized my chair has wheels and it is a simple matter to push my chair back. And with the next push, the chair went back away from the desk. No more isometrics. My belief dramatically affected what my muscles were capable of.

Flying Car

Had a dream this morning. I was driving up a mountain road, a rocky ledge along the side of a mountain. It got steeper and more narrow, the mountainside fell away and it was just a rocky ledge barely wide enough for the car. Had to keep speed up or risk falling backward. Steeper and steeper and finally the road curved back in a loop and the car was upside down. Now we're off the road, falling to a certain death. But we're not falling. We're floating, flying, looking down on a spectacular view of a gorgeous mountain peak. Now I know it has to be a dream, become lucid for a moment, and wake up.

If you don't know me by now

If you don't know me by now
Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes

play now

If you don't know me by now
You will never never never know me

All the things that we've been through
You should understand me like I understand you
Now girl I know the difference between right and wrong
I ain't gonna do nothing to break up our happy home
Oh don't get so excited when I come home a little late at night
Cos we only act like children when we argue, fuss, and fight

If you don't know me by now
You will never never never know me

We've all got our own funny moods
I've got mine, woman you've your yours too
Just trust in me like I trust in you
As long as we've been together it should be so easy to do
Just get yourself together or we might as well say goodbye
What good is a love affair when you can't see eye to eye

If you don't know me by now
You will never never never know me

Unprocessed hurt demands attention

Debbie Ford spoke at the Seaside Center for Spirituality Friday night. She says there is no point in trying to get rid of our bad behaviors; instead we must love them, see the value in them. Jung said, "I'd rather be whole than good." She says unprocessed hurt from the past causes us to sabotage ourselves, to demand attention and resolution.

Fear incapacitates the brain

I met this woman a couple weeks ago. She seemed intelligent and independent-minded with great ideas, fun to talk to. I met up with her again two weeks later and in the intervening period she had lost her job. She was a different person. She was unclear, thought process disorganized, unable to make good decisions. She also expressed considerable worry about finances. It occurred to me, it was the fear that incapacitated her thinking ability.

New Moon

A burst of creative growth for MapTeam. Our Florida client gave us some new ideas: the motivation index, and the NAR convention. We've decided to aim for the NAR convention in Orlando this fall. This gives us focus and renewed vigor.

Baraka

Baraka
a film by Ron Fricke
1992

Baraka, roughly translated as blessing, a common word in many middle eastern languages. Beautiful 70mm photography of spectacular scenes around the world, no plot, non-verbal. Director Ron Frick says the movie is about man's relationship with the divine. I was most taken with the rituals in diverse cultures. I still can't get over the opening scene of the monkeys in the hot springs.

Change my belief system

Heart-based belief.

The language of consciousness. The language of belief.

Changing the way we feel can literally rearrange the atoms of the stuff in the physical world around us.

The human heart creates fields of energy - the same energy that everything is made of - which extend far beyond our bodies into the world around us.

Our beliefs create the situations in our lives.

  • We can transcend the laws that say we are separate from everything around us.

  • We can transcend the laws that say time and space are barriers between us and our relationships and the people we love and hold dear.

  • We can transcend the laws of aging.

  • We can transcend the laws that tell us we are limited in this world.

Everything changes. We are no longer limited by anything other than the beliefs - the false limits of the beliefs of our conditioning from our past, our culture, our friends, our family - our subconscious beliefs.

Everything changes. Each of us has the opportunity to shatter our personal paradigm of false limits.

Stand

Stand
Sly & the Family Stone
1969

Stand
In the end you'll still be you
One that's done all the things you set out to do

Stand
There's a cross for you to bear
Things to go through if you're going anywhere

Stand
For the things you know are right
It's the truth that the truth makes them so uptight

Stand
All the things you want are real
You have you to complete and there is no deal

Stand, stand, stand
Stand, stand, stand

Stand
You've been sitting much too long
There's a permanent crease in your right and wrong

Stand
There's a midget standing tall
And the giant beside him about to fall

Stand
They will try to make you crawl
And they know what you're saying makes sense and all

Stand
Don't you know that you are free
Well at least in your mind if you want to be.

Everybody
Stand, stand, stand
